Valentin Lopez, 78 passed away peacefully on October 20th, 2024, surrounded by friends and family in Melbourne, Florida. He was born on July 26, 1946, in Salinas, Puerto Rico. Valentin “Val” Lopez had a love of many sports and was especially fond of the New York Mets, if he wasn’t watching a game, you’d find him on a softball field playing the game or cheering on others. Val was particularly proud of his family and would often talk about memories of him playing softball with his boys and taking laps in the pool with them.
He was a dedicated husband, brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and coach to many. Val is survived by his wife Yasmin Lopez, sons John, Joey, Valentin Lopez Jr. (Evelyn), Ernie Lopez (Courtney), Alex Picos, Louie Lozano (Joanne) and daughter Lisa. His grandchildren, Josh (Kara), Alek, Jamie, Ethan, Makhias, Emerson, Xavier, Keoni, Jasper, Theodore, Justin, Jada, Alexis, and Marcus. In addition, his great granddaughter Hailey. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family and loved ones, he will continue to be a guiding light to all.
A memorial service will be held in Melbourne, Florida on Sunday October 27 at 1:00 PM, at the Ammen Family Funeral Care. There will be additional service held in New York, at D’Angelo’s Funeral Home II 64-18 Flushing Avenue, Maspeth NY 11738. In lieu of flowers, family is requesting that donations be given to The American Blood Center, Make-A-Wish foundation, and Little League Baseball Association
