Robert DeSandre of Maspeth died peacefully at home on 11/9/24 at 87 years. Bob was born in Maspeth on March 18, 1937 to Severin and Helen DeSandre of Maspeth. He graduated from the School of Arts and Design in Manhattan and attended college at CCNY. He became a draftsman at HP Gridley and Company in Manhattan and went on to buy the firm after five years and spent his career there.
In 1962 he married Barbara Ann Megiel of Maspeth and was married for 62 years.. He was a true local resident who loved to see and speak to people in the neighborhood and was a familiar presence on his block through the years. His many friends could attest to his friendliness and interest in the neighborhood. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann (nee Megiel) and one brother Bruce (m.Thomas Dougherty) and many friends from the neighborhood. A special note should go out to Mary and the entire Dalton family who were family to Bob.
Visitation hours will be 3 to 7 at the D’Angelo funeral home on Grand Avenue in Maspeth and a mass of the resurrection will be held at Transfiguration Roman Catholic Church on Perry Street in Maspeth at 10AM on Thursday.
