Christina "Tiny" Scheidt, beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 9th, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and competitive spirit that touched the lives of all who knew her.
Born on October 1, 1936, in Maspeth, New York, Tiny was a lifelong resident of the community she cherished. She attended Newtown High School's Cooperative Program, where she began building the strong work ethic that would define her character throughout her life.
Tiny's professional career took her through several respected companies, including Chemical Bank and Cerro Wire and Cable, where she was known for her reliability and dedication. However, her greatest calling came when she became a full-time caretaker for her mother, and later for her older sister—a role she embraced with unwavering devotion for nearly 40 years. This act of love exemplified the depth of her character and her commitment to family above all else.
An outstanding athlete and fierce competitor, Tiny excelled in the neighborhood games of her youth. She was legendary in stickball, formidable at marbles—where she remained practically unbeatable—and truly exceptional at bowling. Her skill at the lanes earned her numerous trophies and awards, testament to both her natural talent and determined spirit. Whether competing or cheering others on, she brought enthusiasm and joy to every game.
Tiny's passions were as vibrant as her personality. She was a devoted New York Mets fan, faithfully following her team through victories and heartbreaks alike. She loved hosting family barbecues, filling the yard with music. She adored her cherished dogs who were cared for like children.
But perhaps nothing brought her more joy than Christmas, particularly Christmas Eve, which she transformed into a moving experience for her entire family. She spent days meticulously decorating the house and tree, including the model train sets that captivated her nephews and nieces. Each present was wrapped with the same attention to detail that she brought to everything she touched.
Tiny was preceded in death by three of her brothers and her sister, all of whom she cared for with the same devotion she showed throughout her life.
She is survived by her brother Bobby and sister-in-law Patti, as well as the numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews whom she adored and doted on.
Christina "Tiny" Scheidt lived a life defined by selfless love, competitive spirit, and unwavering loyalty to family. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her, and in the Christmas Eves, family gatherings, and Mets games that will never be quite the same without her cheers and laughter.
